I am one of those people who love to learn how to do things for myself and
on my own!
This is often a blessing and a curse.
Here is why I say that!
When I need to learn to do some task I often think that it is going to be difficult;
usually because someone else said it would be.
But just because someone said so, that does not necessarily make it so!
In an effort to making life easier on ourselves we should first take stock of what
we already know about that particular subject.
Obviously, the more you know about the subject the further ahead you will be and
therefore have a different starting point and learning curve.
Let’s take the example of Internet Marketing, which is one of my favourite topics.
When I first started to market on the Internet, I was confused and frustrated by the
overwhelming amount of information coming my way on a daily basis.
This went on for a very long time, years, actually!
Finally, I had enough and decided to make things easier for myself.
I went back to the beginning and started again simply and with a more focused plan of action.
I decided what my goals were.
I did this by asking the following questions:
- Why was I online? (what did I want to achieve)
- How was I going to accomplish them?
- Where would I go for help?
The first was the easiest to answer as it was more subjective and did not need input
from anyone but me.
I was online to provide something of value, share it and earn an income from home.
The other two questions were more difficult because there was and still are so many
people, places and programs to choose from that it can be quite overwhelming and not
all of these options will get you to your goals.
Some of these options are not right for your aims and some are unfortunately not geared
to your best interest.
There are dishonest marketers online just as there are offline.
You must learn to do your due diligence and protect yourself financially and emotionally
from those who use the relative anonymity of cyberspace to operate without honour and integrity.
Making these changes to the way that I operate on the Internet has helped me to make huge
forward strides in my marketing efforts.
Plus, I have made things so much easier on myself and you can do!
